Kerry Simon (dubbed the Rock-n-Roll chef by Rolling Stone Magazine) makes amazing burgers, including the burger that earned him his Iron Chef America win over Chef Cat Cora at his restaurant, KGB-Kerry’s Gourmet Burgers, located in Harrah’s on the Las Vegas Strip.
The casual, hip KGB is decorated with vintage Russian propaganda posters and features the vodka bar featuring a huge selection of vodkas that the hostesses can help pair with the various specialty burgers on the menu.
While burgers and vodka are the main attractions at KGB, the sides, shakes and deserts are all Iron Chef worthy. We loved the buffalo chicken egg rolls and the waffle fry nacho starters as much as the sweet potato tater tots served as a side dish. If the nice selection of Angus beef burgers isn’t your thing, the braised short rib sloppy joe and the Thanksgiving turkey burger (complete with stuffing & cranberry sauce) are equally scrumptious. Shakes and malts are another specialty. We found the Cap’n Crunch milkshake strangely addicting.
KGB is located right inside Harrah’s and with 156 seats getting a table is a snap. And with hours from 11:00AM to 6:00AM grabbing a burger in this 24 hour city is no problem. Service is part of the show. Waitresses are knowledgeable and make the Russian theme part of the dining experience. Prices are reasonable with all of the burgers and sandwiches under $15, not bad for a celebrity chef joint. With any luck the super-nice Kerry Simon may even be in the house overseeing the grill as he was on the day we stopped in.
