Las Vegas is home to some outstanding grocery shopping and Mariana’s Market is at the top of the list. This full service supermarket caters to the Hispanic community. The produce and meat departments are overflowing with some of freshest items you’ll find in the city and the in house bakery make its own tortillas. Freshly made tortillas bear no resemblance to the mass produced cardboard-like store brands and a trip to Mariana’s is worth the effort if only to stick up on the tortillas. They also have a small café and juice bar tucked into one corner of the market that specializes in authentic home style dishes that are dear to the large Hispanic population that call Las Vegas home. They have a dozen or so tables to dine in and also do take-out. The menu board is all in Spanish and the staff speaks minimal English but pointing will get the point across if your high school Spanish fails you. Everything is on display-freshly cooked massive chicarron, carnitas, soups & stews such as menudo, gorgeous tamales and on a recent visit some of the best chiles rellenos and quesadillas filled with meltingly tender shredded meat on the planet. The location on West Sahara is easy to get to from the strip and would make a great little side trip during a Vegas vacation.
